Evaluation reports

For the sake of public accountability and overall learning, SECO attaches great importance to publishing its reports on the evaluation work carried out.
There are four types of report:

Accountability Reports
The Economic Cooperation and Development Division is required to render an account every four years on all of its activities financed under the Message on Switzerland’s International Cooperation. This report focuses on the experience gathered, challenges identified and further recommendations for future work.
Annual Effectiveness Reports
Since 2008, SECO’s Economic Cooperation and Development Division has published a report annually on the results of all external evaluations. This contains a statistical assessment and analysis of the performance of the project portfolio with respect to relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability, as well as an in-depth analysis of a thematic topic.
Independent Evaluations
Independent evaluations of the priority themes in economic development cooperation proposed by the external Evaluation Committee are carried out at regular intervals. These reports are submitted to the external Evaluation Committee and to the Management for comment and subsequently published.
SECO/SDC Reports on Effectiveness
Every two years, SECO and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) jointly publish a report on the long-term impact of the measures taken in one particular area of Swiss development cooperation.
