2019 annual report on international cooperation
02.06.2020 - SECO and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) have published the 2019 annual report on the Swiss International Cooperation. In an attractive multimedia format, the report tells stories about how Switzerland contributes to reduce poverty and mitigate global risks.
Multilateral development banks
27.05.2020 - Switzerland is contributing a total of CHF 879 million to replenish the resources of the International Development Association (IDA) and the African Development Fund (ADF). The money will be used to fight poverty, promote sustainable development and tackle the health, social and economic consequences of the COVID-19 crisis in the world's poorest countries.

World Bank Spring Meeting
17.04.2020 - On 17 April 2020, State Secretary Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch represented Switzerland at the virtual spring meeting of the World Bank. Switzerland supports the Bank’s package of measures to combat the global impact of the COVID-19 crisis. It is also ready to support the initiative launched by the IMF and the World Bank to temporarily suspend the debt service of the poorest countries.
19.02.2020 - The Federal Council today adopted the dispatch on Switzerland's strategy for international cooperation 2021–24. Swiss development cooperation will become more focused, thereby enhancing its effectiveness. The SECO will focus its bilateral economic cooperation and development activities on 13 priority countries.
World Bank Group and African Development Bank
19.02.2020 - Switzerland intends to contribute CHF 297 million to capital increases at the World Bank Group and the African Development Bank. The Federal Council adopted the relevant dispatch. The two banks are priority multilateral organisations in terms of Switzerland’s international cooperation, and are key actors in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly with regard to tackling poverty.

19.02.2020 - The final report on the implementation of the message on
international cooperation 2017–2020 shows that SECO is largely achieving its objectives, obtaining good results and is actively addressing difficulties.
Contribution to the enlarged EU
20.01.2020 - Over the last ten years, Switzerland supported 93 projects aimed at reducing economic and social disparities in Bulgaria and Romania.
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
15.01.2020 - Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), attended the annual meeting of the non-regional IDB member countries in mid-January. Through IDB, Switzerland is currently supporting Colombia to deal with the huge influx of migrants over the past two years from Venezuela.
