10 years of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is celebrating its tenth anniversary. As a founding member, Switzerland has helped the AIIB establish itself as a successful partner in the multilateral development banking system and apply ambitious environmental and social standards.
In ten years, the AIIB has approved infrastructure investments of over USD 60 billion and now employs 700 people at its headquarters in Beijing. At the annual meeting in Beijing at the end of June 2025, Jiayi Zou from China was elected as the next AIIB president. She will succeed President Liqun Jin in February 2026. Switzerland encourages the AIIB to further deepen cooperation between development banks and strengthen multilateralism in order to enable sustainable development in Asia.
