New cooperation programme between Switzerland and Egypt
Switzerland and Egypt have launched a new cooperation programme for 2025–2028. Egypt is an important partner for Switzerland in the areas of economic and development cooperation.
The 2025–2028 programme supports particularly vulnerable groups, promotes a sustainable economy and strengthens human rights and good governance. The aim is to increase the resilience of the population, better manage migration and facilitate investment.
The programme follows on from more than 45 years of cooperation with the aim of achieving sustainable and environmentally friendly economic growth in Egypt. The new programme has two main objectives:
- Macroeconomic reforms: Improvements in the areas of budget, taxation and finance are intended to promote investment and private sector growth.
- Urban development: Smart planning, energy and mobility solutions create jobs and improve cities.
Egypt is Switzerland's most important economic partner in the region. For over 45 years, SECO has been supporting sustainable economic growth in Egypt that benefits everyone. It helps the country to better manage its finances and debt and to provide good public services. SECO also supports Egypt in improving its vocational training and making its cities more environmentally friendly. This includes, for example, energy supply and water and waste management.
