Gender equality
Gender equality is a human right. Without it, there can be neither inclusive economic growth nor sustainable prosperity that benefits everyone. SECO therefore takes gender equality into account in all its projects.
Despite progress, it is still mostly women who are affected by poverty. Many women are unable to participate equally in economic, social and political life. This is not only unjust, but also a major loss in social and economic terms. That is why SECO attaches great importance to empowering women economically and creating fair opportunities and conditions for them in the labour and financial markets.
SECO always takes gender equality into account when planning, implementing and monitoring programmes and projects: it considers social norms and legal requirements, and analyses gender-specific opportunities and risks.
SECO attaches great importance to empowering women economically and creating fair opportunities and conditions for them in the labour and financial markets.
SECO works to ensure that women and men have equal access to natural resources, vocational training, markets and services. To this end, it specifically promotes female entrepreneurship and women's access to financial resources and services. This in turn increases their chances of finding a job and participating in the economy.
