World Bank wants to create more jobs in developing countries
At the World Bank's Spring Meetings 2025 in Washington D.C., Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin emphasised Switzerland's clear commitment to a strong, rules-based multilateral system.
Parmelin praised the World Bank's key role as an indispensable partner in tackling global challenges. Switzerland calls for the World Bank's capacity to act to be further strengthened so that it can respond even more effectively and in a more targeted manner to pressing challenges such as poverty, climate change and fragility. At the same time, Switzerland calls for deeper cooperation with other development actors, as sustainable progress can only be achieved through joint, coordinated efforts. The World Bank remains a key partner for Switzerland in promoting sustainable and inclusive development worldwide.
