Quality management

SECO’s quality management system, which meets international standards, underpins its constant efforts to improve processes, internal services and projects. This increases both efficiency and effectiveness.

SECO’s Economic Cooperation and Development division was one of the first federal offices to introduce an ISO-9001-certified Quality Management System, subject to an annual independent audit. Working with this system, SECO can fulfil its responsibilities to partner organisations and to the Swiss Parliament and people and meet their expectations.

Quality management is important for SECO as well as for project partners: The quality assurance system of the wastewater treatment plant in Kumanovo, Macedonia.

Core elements of the quality management system

  • SECO systematically bases all actions on its quality policy (mission statement) and self-imposed strategic goals.
  • It documents processes in writing and subjects them to regular internal and external audits to ensure they are correctly implemented.
  • It systematically examines projects with respect to relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability.
  • SECO works with risk assessment and management at institution, country and project levels.  
  • SECO fulfils the requirements of its partner organisations as well as the legal and regulatory requirements.   
  • The quality management system is subject to a continuous improvement process.
