Development policy issues

SECO factors in the following issues systematically when it plans, designs, implements and evaluates measures.

2030 Agenda

The 2030 Agenda forms a reference framework for the development policy activities of SECO.

Climate and resource efficiency

SECO’s activities help countries to mitigate the negative consequences of climate change and to adapt to these.

Gender equality

Equality between women and men is one of the keys to fighting poverty and a major driver of sustainable growth.

Good Governance

Good economic governance involves principles like transparency, accountability and non-discrimination.

Fighting corruption

SECO promotes transparency and efficiency in governance and the economy and helps partner countries to develop rules.

Digitalisation

Digitalisation has triggered fundamental change in society and the economy and has huge potential to reform the working environment.

Migration

SECO creates local perspectives, thereby fighting the causes of irregular migration.

Policy coherence

Conflicts of interest between the measures of different Swiss policy areas should be avoided and synergies exploited.
