Strategic focus

ECO aligns itself with the strategy of the Federal Council, which includes international cooperation, the Swiss foreign economic and growth policy as well as sustainable development. In doing this, SECO supports the integration of the partner countries in the world economy, which benefits all participants and combats the unwanted side effects of growth.

Swiss international cooperation

Switzerland pursues focused and effective international cooperation, using the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development as a reference framework.

SECO’s mandate

SECO’s mandate is to support economic growth and sustainable prosperity in its partner countries.

SECO’s objectives

SECO's economic and trade policy measures focus on two sustainable target outcomes: making markets and opportunities accessible and creating income opportunities.

Switzerland’s official development assistance

In 2019, Switzerland contributed 3,047 billion Swiss francs to official development assistance.
