As part of the "Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity" programme, the Czech Republic plans to approach Swiss institutions with a view to forming partnerships. Projects for the management of visitor flows and the creation of landscape corridors in national and regional parks are being promoted. Similar programmes are also planned in Bulgaria and Slovakia.
The SECO and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) are jointly implementing the second Swiss cohesion contribution of CHF 1.1 billion approved by parliament in 2021. The programs in the 13 poorest EU member states, which will run until 2029, are an investment in security, stability and prosperity in Europe.
As part of the "Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity" program, the Czech Republic is looking for Swiss partner institutions that can contribute their expertise. The program aims to promote sustainable tourism and strengthen biodiversity in regional nature parks and protected areas. With a budget of CHF 38.4 million, it supports measures to better manage visitor flows and create landscape corridors and water networks. Similar programs are also being implemented in Bulgaria and Slovakia.
Partnerships with Swiss expertise
The selection of Swiss partners for the Czech program is carried out decentrally. The Czech Ministry of the Environment will launch public calls for proposals in which Czech institutions can propose potential partnerships with Swiss organizations. SECO therefore expects that various larger and smaller Czech institutions will be looking for such partnerships. In order to channel these requests in the best possible way, SECO is working closely with the Swiss Parks Network. The umbrella organization contributes its many years of experience in developing and supporting projects and is well connected with relevant actors in Switzerland.
Swiss institutions interested in a partnership can register now. For further information, please contact SECO or the Swiss Parks Network. For further information, including contact details, see the flyer (available in German and French only).
